Discover and book La Plagne lift passes

Updated

La Plagne is part of the Paradiski, one of the largest linked ski areas in the world, with more than 425km of pistes spread over two different resorts: Les Arcs and La Plagne. This ensures that buying a La Plagne lift pass is money well spent.

To start with, be aware there are two main types of skipass to choose from:

  • La Plagne pass - the cheaper, local area pass, offering access to 225km of pistes; suitable for beginners.
  • Paradiski pass - whole area pass, offering access to a whopping 425km of pistes in two different ski resorts: Les Arcs and La Plagne

In our experience, most people visiting La Plagne stay for a week, which means that six day passes are the top choice among skiers and snowboarders who want to enjoy our mountain playground.

Deals and discounted ski passes in La Plagne

Are there any ski pass deals and discounts in La Plagne?
La Plagne offers discounted ski passes for groups of two and three people, families, online purchases, beginners, disabled skiers, and those coming late in the ski season.

If you're looking to save money on your lift pass, make sure you check out the best ways to reduce the overall cost. Quite often the pricing structures can be complex, but it's worth reading our guide below for some insights, depending on your circumstances.

What are the best ways to save money on La Plagne lift passes?

  • Look out for early pre-season sales and start/end of season discounts
  • Buy Group or Family packs if eligible, buying all passes together
  • Buy online ahead of arriving to save both time and money in resort
  • Buy six-day passes, for a better per 'day rate' over shorter durations
  • Buy the local area pass rather than full area, albeit with fewer options

Group ski passes
Both the Paradiski and La Plagne ski pass have discounts available for groups. If you're skiing in a group of two or three people (or more), you can buy a Duo or Tribu ski pass. These passes can save you between €10 and €15 per person. Duo and Tribu passes are available for six to 15 days duration. Your group can be made up of adults or children but in order to receive the discount all the passes must be bought online, all at the same time, for the same ski area and in one payment. Children and seniors will need to show proof of age.

Group discounts for larger parties of 20 or more are also available but you will need to write to the ski pass office to get a quote. Once you've received your quote, you pay for the passes on arrival in resort. For every 40 passes bought, you get one pass free.

Family passes
Family rates are available for a minimum of two persons (13 to 74 yrs) and two children (aged 5 to 12 yrs), saving around €30 per person. To benefit from the discount, at least four ski passes must be bought at the same time for the same duration and ski area. You will need to order these passes at least two days in advance of your arrival in resort to allow time for the order to be processed. Family passes are available from 6 to 15 days duration. Children and seniors require proof of age either at the moment of sale or in resort. Ages on the first day of skiing are taken into account.

Early and late season discounts
Early and late season discounts are available on La Plagne ski passes. These are available from four hours duration. Family and group discounts can be applied for six-day passes and over.

Saturday and Sunday ski pass deals
The 'Samedi Je Skie' offer is available when purchasing your one day La Plagne ski pass online. Book before Friday at midnight and pay a discounted price for your Saturday ski pass. There is a similar offer available for Sunday skiing, the 'Dimanche Malin', available every Sunday of the season with the exception of Christmas, New Year and the main February school holidays. You must book these ski passes at least 10 days in advance if you want them to be delivered to your home address. However, if you have a hands-free card to recharge, you can order them up to the day before.

Beginner ski passes
Beginner ski passes in La Plagne can be bought in resort at one of the ski pass offices. Look out for "Cool Ski" one day passes which cost €33 (from 5 to 74 years) and give you access to designated beginner-friendly areas on the pistes. If you're booking lessons with a ski school, check with them to see what passes they offer or which ones they recommend before buying.

Senior skiers
Everyone aged 65 to 74 years old benefits from special rates on La Plagne ski passes, and those aged 75 years and over pay €10 for their pass and can then ski for free. Proof of age must be presented, taking into account the age on the first skiing day.

Disabled skiers
Disabled skiers and an accompanying person get around -50% off the price of their ski passes. Proof of the disability when purchasing two identical ski passes for the same dates, duration and ski area.

Where to buy ski passes in La Plagne

There are two main ways of purchasing your La Plagne ski pass: online and in resort.

A step-by-step guide to buying your La Plagne ski passes online
To save time and money, you can pre-order your La Plagne ski passes online. The process is really simple:

  1. Click on the button below, which will take you to La Plagne's main lift pass website.
  2. Select the area you want to ski in (La Plagne or the full Paradiski area), how many days you want, the start date you require and how many people of each age group are in your party.
  3. Any discounts you may be eligible for will be automatically applied to the price of your passes.
  4. Choose if you want ski insurance or not – we recommend you add it.
  5. State whether you already have a rechargeable card (in which case you'll need to insert its WTP number – see below for more information) or you don't (you'll have to pay €1).
  6. Create an account with your personal details.
  7. Choose whether you want your ski passes to be delivered to your home address for a small fee (allow at least 10 days for delivery outside France and seven days within France), or you prefer to pick them up at one of the cash desks.
  8. Pay for your ski passes.

That's it, you're all ready to hit the slopes!

How to buy your La Plagne ski passes in resort
You can also buy your pass at a lift pass office when you get to resort. If you're uncertain of the pass you need or are looking to see how the weather is before buying your pass, then this can be a good option. The lift pass office staff are great at advising exactly which pass is best for you while some passes, such as pedestrian and beginner lift passes, are actually only available to buy at the lift pass offices. Be warned, though, you may have to queue, especially at busy times.

There are also three locations where you can buy your ski pass through a “quick purchase” machine. Once you have initially chosen an understandable language, buying your pass is a simple matter of choosing from the relevant options displayed and paying with a credit or debit card. Two of these automatic machines are situated in Arc 1800, one near to the Transarc gondola and the other next to the Tourist Information Office in Le Charvet. The third is positioned next to the funicular station in Bourg St Maurice.

How ski passes work in La Plagne

Ski passes in La Plagne are loaded onto a rechargeable SmartMedia card, which is more or less the size of a credit card and has a chip that stores the lift pass information. This hands-free card is read remotely at the entrance of the lifts, so you just need it to put it in a pocket on your left side (many ski jackets have a special pocket on the left sleeve) and the turnstile will activate remotely as you pass through. Keep it away from your credit cards, mobile phone or other ski passes as they may obstruct the card reading. Hands-free cards cost €1 in La Plagne, and this fee is not refundable.

What is a ski pass WTP number? You can recharge and top-up your La Plagne hands-free card as many times as you want over several years. In order to do so, you need to enter the card's WTP (Wireless Transaction Protocol) number when purchasing your pass online. You can find this number on your card. After you've recharged your hands-free card in advance, you can generally go directly to the lifts without having to stop at the lift pass offices.
