Summer lifts in La Plagne

Discover the La Plagne summer lifts and areas

Updated

La Plagne is a hot-spot in summer for mountain holidays, with thousands of people coming to take in the stunning Alpine views, to do some hiking, mountain biking and to explore the area.

Eleven lifts are open in La Plagne during the summer, and they typically operate from 09:00 until around 17:00 through July and August with just a few exceptions. Take note that not all of the lifts are open every day of the week, and most of them take a break for lunch at either 12:15 or 12:45. Find the full lift schedule and what dates the lifts are open for summer.

These are the lifts open in La Plagne each summer:

  • Pierres Blanches chairlift (Montchavin)
  • Montchavin chair lift (Montchavin)
  • Vanoise Express (Montchavin)
  • Champagny gondola (Champagny)
  • Colorado chair lift (Plagne Centre)
  • Montalbert gondola (Montalbert)
  • Colosses chair lift (Plagne Bellecôte)
  • Roche de Mio gondola (Plagne Bellecôte)
  • Glacier de Bellecôte gondola (only for pedestrians, not mountain bikers)
  • Belle Plagne gondola
  • Telemetro (links Plagne centre to Aime 2000)

Take a look at the shuttle bus timetables for more connections between the villages in summer. You can connect to neighbouring Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express cable car, but be advised it only operates mid week and not on the weekends.

Lifts will stop running in the case of high winds or bad weather, but you can check on this before you head out by looking at the live lift status

The lifts are mountain-bike friendly with bike hooks, trolleys or gondola cabins that you can fit them into, allowing you to access all the MTB trails in La Plagne with ease. Only one lift does not permit bikes, the Bellecôte glacier, as this is reserved solely for pedestrians. Pedestrians and bikes can all use the same type of lift pass, and occasionally share the same paths, although there are some dedicated mountain bike trails to keep everyone separate.

Summer lift pass prices and lift pass options are slightly different to winter - it is worth checking the which lifts you can use before setting off. Paragliders also have access to a number of lifts throughout the summer.
