Vanoise Express cabin renovations 2017

Cable car cabin back in resort after summer-long safety checks & inspections

At the end of last winter, one of the iconic Vanoise Express cable car cabins was dismantled and taken off by lorry for a summer of inspections and renovations.

The huge cabin, which is capable of carrying 200 people at one time across the valley between La Plagne ans Les Arcs, was first split into two and loaded onto huge lorries.

The upper and lower sections were taken to POMA in Grenoble, where they were checked over, given a thorough safety inspection and given a bit of a face-lift inside.

The cabin arrived back in La Plagne three days ago and has since been loaded back onto the cable by crane. In a few days time the operation of the cable car will be tested by an inspector before it's fully signed off for use.

Next year, the same thing will happen with the second cabin.
