A huge proposal to link La Plagne to the train station at Aime by cable-car, has been announced this week.

This new project would see a cable car bringing visitors from the train station in Aime on the valley floor, up to La Roche, the site of the Bobsleigh track. The bus station for La Plagne's shuttle buses would also be moved here.

For visitors arriving by train, say from Paris on the Eurostar ski train, the new cable car would allow you to be on the slopes in 4 hours 15 minutes, according to Le Dauphine newspaper. For those arriving by car, you will be able to leave your car in a covered car-park near the station and catch the connection up to resort - a handy 'park 'n' ski' solution.

There have been a lot of projects and proposals announced in La Plagne in the past 12 months. Already under way is a large renovation project in Aime 2000, which will see the highest part of resort completely transformed. Investments in the ski area and lift system have also been made, with €220 million set to be spent between now and 2024.

The estimated cost of the new cable-car link alone is €13 million and the new parking lot and other facilities are estimated at €12 million.

Banks and investors are currently being sought and it's thought that a final decision on the project will be made in summer 2018.
