Reviews

  • "We stayed a week this summer and loved it. It is a small family hotel with lovely views. Attention has been given to every possible detail from the breakfast spread to tastefully furnished bedroom and spacious en suite bathroom. Unlimited tea and coffee and Madelaine cakes are available. The owner, Mme Michelas, was very helpful on what to see in the area. We are non meat eaters and in summer couldn't find any restaurants to cater to our needs. We ended up eating every evening in the hotel. We had superb fish and vegetarian meals cooked by Mme and M Michelas and delicious wine. They could not have been more helpful and welcoming." - Trip Advisor
  • "We have stayed in numerous hotels and chalets in ski resorts over the past 30 years but Le Cocoon was a new experience. "Faites come chez vous", Corinne and Regis told us as they welcomed us. Home from home is how I would describe it. Only better than home! Our teenage girls loved the outdoor jacuzzi and we had a fabulous last night in the little hut where Regis cooked a wonderful medley of beef and magret, followed by amazing homemade tart tat in washed down with the best genepi I've ever tasted - harvested high up in the mountains by Regis himself. I am rather reluctant to share this incredible "trouvaille" with the world at large but I truly believe the owners deserve to succeed as they give their hearts and souls to their very special venture." - Trip Advisor
  • "We stayed 4 days in La Plagne, fantastic weather and very enjoyable skiing, Corinne and Regis made our stay very comfortable and homely, food was fantastic, room very comfortable, the spa very pleasant after a day on the slopes. I hope to come back on day." - Trip Advisor

Lifts/Pistes Nearby

Family friendly 1800 offers a small, beginners ski area, where lessons take place, whilst the Melezes and 1800 chairlifts connect the village with the rest of the resort via Plagne Centre and Aime 2000 respectively. The runs back into the village from the surrounding area are a mixture of reds and blues offering wide highway pistes and narrower winding ones, these runs can become busy and somewhat messy in peak season as they are high traffic areas, but with care and a little off-piste can provide access to – or close to most accommodation.

Nightlife Nearby

Atmospheric La Mine, hung with old mining equipment and paraphernalia is the undisputed centre of 1800’s nightlife, providing a warm welcome to locals, tourists and seasonaires alike. The staff are friendly, the beer is good, the live music is loud and there’s always something going on, you might find them hosting a quarter pipe and rail jam out on their front deck! For more nightlife you’d have to head to out to the other villages, easy to do as the shuttle buses run until after midnight and the good news is if you miss the last one from Plagne Centre at least it’s a down hill walk (or sledge) home.
