This charming Savoyard hotel is located in the heart of Montchavin at an altitude of 1250m and is just a 2-minute walk from the lifts. It provides clean and homely rooms alongside an excellent friendly service.

The hotel has been furnished in traditional style using plenty of wood and bright fabrics to create a warm and welcoming mountain atmosphere.

All their cosy rooms are decorated simply and include balconies giving you a lovely view over the Monchavin village or of the Mountains. All rooms also include an LCD TV with French satellite channels, free WiFi access and a safe.

For those that prefer to self-cater, the hotel also offers a number of different sized apartments that are equipped with their own kitchen and sitting area.

For relaxation after a full day on the mountain, you can look forward to returning to the hotel and unwinding in their wellness centre which includes a jacuzzi, sauna and hammam (steam room). You can also choose to indulge in a selection of facials, treatments and wraps with their in-house beauty therapist.

For kids, there is a specially dedicated playroom with games consoles, board games, books, crayons and paper.

If you are staying at the hotel during the winter months you'll be glad of their ski room with heated boot warmers so you can easily slide on your ski boots each morning and have toasty toes. The ski room has plenty of space to store all your equipment so it doesn't clutter up your living space.

The hotel is open wall year round so whether you prefer exploring the mountains on skis and a snowboard or on a mountain bike and by foot, this can be your perfect mountain base.

Worth knowing...

The hotel is open for the winter season from mid-December to the end of April and for the summer season between early July and the beginning of September.

The hotel's restaurant, Le Chaudron, is open daily for dinner from 19:00. It serves all the traditional specialities such as fondue, raclette and tartiflette. There are also a number of other dishes available such as oysters, wild boar casserole and burgers. For kids there is a two-course children's menu for just €9!

Local Area

The two villages of Montchavin Les Coches are situated at the far left edge of the piste map and are as close as a person can stay to the Vanoise Express to Les Arcs, skiers aiming to get the most out of their Paradiski lift pass often set up camp here. To access the main ski areas of La Plagne involves a four lift connection to Bellecote from which you can get to Plagne Centre, Champagny and the right side of the map. This multitude of lift connections that you have to start your day with are the price you pay for residing at low altitude but you get some compensation on your way home after a long day when those four lifts are replaced by one long beautiful run from 2340m to your 1250m home.

Towns Nearby

Rustic Montchavin situated at 1250m rivals Champagny for La Plagne’s lowest village, it is however, North facing and so keeps its snow much longer than southern facing Champagny.

Restaurants Nearby

La Tavern du Monchu is a very popular restaurant and well known for its good menu and artistic décor. La Table du Tarin has a good price menu where you can sit fireside or by the wood burning stove. If you are celebrating a special occasion then La Poya has a lovely menu and open fireplace. L’Origan is a small friendly pizzeria restaurant with a traditional wood pizza oven. In Montchavin you have your pick of restaurants serving traditional menus on piste or in the village such as quaint Le Dos Rond, or La Ferme de Cesar priding themselves on swift lunch service or family friendly Restaurant Le Chaudron with menu and activities for children. Le Moulin a Poivre and La Bovate are both friendly restaurants with a varied menu. Le Zaccota is also is a small family run pizzeria.

Lifts/Pistes Nearby

The judicious positioning of snow cannons make it possible to ski into Montchavin late into the season, if at any point it does become impossible there is a cable car that runs to nearby purpose built Les Coches which at 1450m retains its snow longer and affords access all season to Montchavin.

Nightlife Nearby

Les Coches contains all the basics for your stay including grocery shop and bakery, tabac and ski hire shops. There are a couple of bars in Les Coches offering an après atmosphere, pub The Last One being the liveliest and forming the heart of Les Coches nightlife. For everything else you need to head down the hill to Montchavin. In the evening Montchavin’s limited nightlife revolves around a few lively bars and its own L’Oxygen nightclub. Please note that there is no access to the other La Plagne villages after the lifts close except by a long car journey so if you’re after a more lively nightlife Montchavin may not be the village for you.
