La Poya Restaurant Review

Excellent Food in Chic Surroundings - Good Value Lunch Menu

featured in Restaurant reviews Author Matt Hein, Ski Editor Updated

New for this season, La Poya feels like you're dining in a friend's chalet or house. It's got lovely decor with lots of modern touches, with wood and fur - it's very chic and the huge roaring fireplace really tops it off.

There's a cracking view over Mont Blanc range and cozy little corners to chill out in, plus the place doubles up as a piano bar later on, so it may be worth your while to take your time over your drinks to savour the atmosphere later.

It's a shame this restaurant was so quiet when i was there, as it was a great value lunch and the couple that greeted me very super friendly and offered great service.

For my starter I had a platter of 4 different kinds of charcuterie and gherkins with fresh bread - Very tasty and flavoursome. Then for the main, I chose the duck leg with creamed leek and gratin - Splendid, I'm lost for superlatives! - it tasted 10 times better than looked, and it looked pretty damn tasty!! A coffee rounded off whole lovely lunch perfectly.

Price wise you get really good value for money - Mains are between 15 and 30 euros, and the Plat du jour is only 8.50 euros. A starter and plat du jour is only 13 euros, or starter, plat du jour and dessert (3 courses) for only 16 euros. Wow - you won't find better value for 3 tasty courses!

Make the most of the stunning view. There's an outside terrace which is a real sun-trap too, so plenty of options depending on whether or not you want a cozy indoor spot or a bit of socialising and people watching on the terrace.

You'll find the Restaurant at the Piste Mont Blanc stop before tunnel and it is next door to the Les Coches tourist office (see the map).
