In a very snowy, low visibility Ski Halfpipe competition last night, Kevin Rolland managed to put down a medal winning run to take third place.

Conditions were pretty poor and I'm sure some competitors were wishing for a delay or a postponement in the start of the competition, which saw lots of falls and incompleted runs resulting in low scores for a large number of the athletes.

Kevin was looking strong for a medal place going into the competition having won 4 X games titles and a number of World Cup Halfpipe medals, and although he fell on his second run, his first run score of 88.60 held up, taking him through to the podium.

First place went to American David Wise with 92.00 (also from his first run - run no.2 only bagged him 3.40 points) and second place to Canadian Mike Riddle with 90.60. Brits Murray Bucham and James Machon also competed, and placed 17th and 23rd respectively.

As we reported a short while ago, Kevin was one of 8 La Plagne-born athletes heading to the Olympics, and the crowds were out in force yesterday watching on the big screens in La Plagne to support him and fellow Frenchman Ben Valentin who came in 10th.
