La Plagne Activities - Indoor / Bad Weather

Indoor / Bad Weather Activities in La Plagne
If you are unlucky enough to find yourself in La Plagne when the rain is pouring and the wind is howling, or if you simply want to have a day off all of those extreme sports you've put your body through, there's no shortage of things for you to do in La Plagne and the surrounding area; here are a few suggestions to keep you entertained during your stay.
Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling
Arcades & 10 Pin Bowling
Bowling de la Plagne in Belle-Plagne is the place to head if you want to practice your strikes. With 8 lanes as well as pool/billiard tables, arcade games and internet access there is plenty to keep you occupied when the weather isn't looking too great. Look out for their 'disco bowling' and other theme nights; there are special 'bumper lanes' for children and beginners. You'll find draught beers and an array of cocktails at the bar as well as bar snacks and light meals.

The bowling allley can be hired out for private functions and if you enquire with the management they can organise all sorts of entertainments, decorations and party food for your event. Click here for contact details.

Open every day from 4pm to 2am, may open as early as 2pm on bad weather days.

Beauty, Spa & Massagea
Beauty, Spa & Massagea
If you are not here for the outdoors ‘extreme’ lifestyle and would prefer a more relaxing break in La Plagne, then you'll be pleased to hear that there is an altogether more pleasurable experience to be had at one of the many Spa and Beauty centres in town. There are a number of excellent beauticians in the town, offering massages, facials, manicures and body treatments - all designed to meet your needs, whether it be a hen weekend, or day of girlie pampering for you and your friends.

Check out our Spas & Salons listings for further information. (Gentlemen, this is not a ladies restricted activity though, it's just as applicable for all you 'real men' out there who are not afraid to indulge in a spot of off-piste pampering!)

Of course, with all the sporting activities in Les Arcs, there are many qualified physiotherapists and masseurs in town to help take your daily stresses, aches and pains away. Details of local physiotherapists, masseurs and holistic practitioners can be found on our Health & Fitness section.

Museums & Galleries
Basilica of St Martin
Basilica of St Martin
Aime is the place to discover a bit about the local history and culture; the Musée Pierre Borrione tells the story of the development of the area and has an interesting section on the silver mines of La Plagne. Aime also has the Maison des Arts, a gallery that hosts a variety of changing exhibitions.

There are many beautiful and interesting buidlings in the area including the Chapelle Oecumenique in Plagne Centre, the Church of St Sigismond in Champagny en Vanoise and Basilica of St Martin in Aime. Plagne Montalbert is a quaint historic village and well worth a wander round. Guided walking tours of the Plagne villages can be organised through the tourist office and are a lovely way to find out more about what is often thought of as a very modern resort.

Nearby Champagny en Vanoise encourages amateur and professional artists to display their works in one of their three exhibition rooms in the village. Entry is free and you are welcome to come and browse the artworks every day except Saturday between 4pm and 7pm.

Please see our Museums & Exhibits page for details of all the above attractions.

As well as the refreshing waters of the Alpine lakes there are also 2 public swimming pools in La Plagne; an indoor pool in Plagne Centre and a heated outdoor pool in Plagne Bellecôte - an outdoor pool may not sound that tempting in the depths of winter but it is kept heated to a toasty 29°!

There are also three outdoor swimming pools (one specially for children) at the Centre Forme Belle Plagne, which are only open during the summer months and have a sunny terrace with sun loungers and umbrellas for those lazy days.
